FUTURA Cyber and Seagate Government Solutions Form Strategic Partnership to Simplify Key Management for Encrypted Data Storage
Partnership will provide KMIP compliant software to efficiently and securely manage encryption keys for data-at-rest on Seagate FIPS 140-2 Self Encrypting Drives.
ASHBURN, VA. September 4, 2019 — FUTURA Cyber, a leading provider of cyber security solutions and Seagate Government Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of Seagate Technology, a world leader in data storage solutions, today announced a strategic partnership to provide cyber security key management encryption solutions for the federal government and commercial organizations.
The two companies are undertaking this new partnership to help simplify key management for encrypted data-at-rest on Seagate FIPS 140-2 Self Encrypting Drives (SED’s). FUTURA Cyber’s Cryptography Management System (FC-CMS) – an adaptive KMIP compliant software platform – allows for efficient and secure management of encryption keys for locking/unlocking encrypted data-at-rest on Seagate’s Common Criteria, BAA/TAA-compliant FIPS 140-2 SED’s.
FC-CMS solves the key management challenges faced by storage enclosure vendors implementing multiple Seagate FIPS 140-2 SED’s, further strengthening security and automating compliance. Integrating TCG Opal and Enterprise feature sets found in SED’s, with a cryptography client that seamlessly manages the encryption keys in a KMIP compliant key management system, will provide the assurance and ease of management organizations have been seeking. The solution meets NIST 800-88 and FIPS 140-2 requirements for protecting sensitive information. Government and commercial enterprises are able to achieve compliance by securely managing encrypted data-at-rest.
The volume of data-at-rest stored locally, in the cloud, and in backup continues to skyrocket. As attackers find increasingly innovative ways to compromise systems and steal data, encrypting valuable data-at-rest becomes imperative. Government and commercial enterprises are demanding solutions that efficiently and cost-effectively manage encryption keys for locking/unlocking encrypted data-at-rest. Combining FUTURA Cyber’s FC-CMS software platform with Seagate’s FIPS 140-2 SED technology provides a cost effective, highly scalable approach to implementing secure key management as a major component of a comprehensive cyber security strategy.
“Seagate Government Solutions is pleased to partner with FUTURA Cyber,” said Mike Moritzkat, CEO and Managing Director, Seagate Government Solutions. “The combination of their deep expertise as a leading provider of cyber security encryption solutions with Seagate’s TAA, CC and FIPS certified hardware, offers a unified, secure solution that ensures compliance with increasingly stringent data and cyber security regulations.”
“The FUTURA Cyber team is focused on providing solutions for complex cyber security problems that require cutting-edge technologies from vendors like Seagate,” said Jim Geary, President of FUTURA Cyber. “Collaborating to create scalable key management solutions for encrypted data-at-rest storage for federal and commercial markets is an exciting next step towards broadening our cyber security portfolio.”
